CBE Southern Africa is looking for A qualified Senior Manager - Shift Charge Engineer to support the Shift Manager in overseeing the efficient and safe operation of Power and Desalination Plants. This critical role ensures the uninterrupted supply of power, water, gas, and compressed air to both internal sites and third-party customers, contributing to the company's core mission of reliable utility provision. The position requires a leader capable of coordinating complex operations and maintaining high safety and environmental standards within a dynamic industrial setting.

• • Monitor and ensure the Permit to Work System compliance, verifying all permits and safety documents are
• prepared for planned maintenance and outage programs, as directed by the Shift Manager;
• • Complete Permit audits and occupational health practices in adherence to OHSAS18001-2007 and Company
• policy;
• • Cultivate a strong safety, environmental, and housekeeping (5S) culture on shift to achieve zero LTI and zero
• environmental incidents, as directed by the Shift Manager;
• • Manage environmental compliance of operational activities, focusing on waste reduction and adherence to
• approved limits as per ISO14001-2004;
• • Ensure electrical power is safely and efficiently generated and distributed according to the daily operational
• plan, meeting the needs of the Smelter complex, DUBAL site, and 3rd party customers;
• • Maintain close liaison with Pot rooms to ensure precise amperage for pot line production, adjusting operating
• output to demand with minimal risk of system trips or penalty charges;
• • Provide technical and emergency support to the Desalination Plant, ensuring reliable and safe operation and
• uninterrupted water supply for the Jebel Ali site and maximizing 3rd party water sales, with availability for 24/7
• support;
• • Ensure continuous production of compressed air to efficiently satisfy Jebel Ali site operational needs, adjusting
• plans as conditions change;
• • Manage any incident threatening production professionally, ensuring staff clearly understand their roles and
• functions;
• • Support the Shift Manager in determining, approving, and implementing routine and non-routine HV system
• switching plans under various circumstances;
• • Monitor, assess, and ensure the integrity of fire protection and fire water systems, engaging staff in tests and
• exercises to maintain up-to-date knowledge;
• • Maximize plant performance based on ambient conditions, ensuring the operating schedule remains optimal to
• determine the number of GTs to run or shutdown;
• • Contribute to and support the achievement of corporate energy policy and agreed energy management action
• plans, ensuring commitment to improving energy performance and resources as per ISO 50001:2001 and its
• procedures.

• • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or equivalent field is probably required;
• • years’ experience in a middle management role in a similar industry, preferably on shift;
• • A diploma-level qualification for exceptional candidates with significantly more experience may be considered;
